Add an AI receptionist chat widget to WordPress that answers visitor questions, captures leads, and helps book appointments on selected pages.

== Description ==

AI Receptionist Widget connects WordPress to [AIReceptionist.so](https://aireceptionist.so/), a hosted AI receptionist for appointment-based businesses. Add the widget without editing theme files, then control where it appears from WordPress.

When configured, the hosted assistant can:

* Answer visitor questions using the business facts you provide.
* Capture names and email addresses from visitors who want a follow-up.
* Offer real open appointment times and create bookings.
* Continue conversations in English or Spanish.
* Follow up by email when a visitor shares an email address but does not book, stopping when they book or opt out.

From Settings > AI Receptionist, you can:

* Connect the site with an AI Receptionist Office ID.
* Confirm that the Office ID is connected.
* Enable or disable the widget.
* Show the widget across the entire site, on posts, on pages, or only on the front page.

The widget is off by default and does not load until an administrator saves an Office ID and enables it.

= Get started =

[Create an AI Receptionist account](https://aireceptionist.so/signin?flow=signUp&source=wordpress), [open your dashboard](https://aireceptionist.so/settings), or [visit AIReceptionist.so](https://aireceptionist.so/) to learn more.

The connector plugin itself is free. An AI Receptionist account is required to use the hosted service. The free Starter allowance includes 25 AI messages each month. Service plans, limits, and availability are managed by AIReceptionist.so.

= External service =

This plugin connects WordPress to the hosted AI Receptionist service provided through [AIReceptionist.so](https://aireceptionist.so/).

The plugin contacts the service in these situations:

* When a site administrator clicks "Check connection," the saved Office ID is sent to the AI Receptionist status endpoint. As with any server request, this also shares the site's server IP address and standard request information.
* When a site administrator enables the widget, visitors' browsers load the hosted widget on the selected parts of the site. The service receives the saved Office ID, the source label "wordpress," and the WordPress site's public origin. As with any browser request, the service also receives the visitor's IP address and standard browser request information.
* When a visitor uses the widget, their messages and any contact or booking details they choose to enter are processed by AI Receptionist so the service can answer, capture a lead, create a booking, or send an applicable follow-up.

The widget is off by default. This connector does not add separate analytics or tracking. The connection check runs only when an administrator requests it.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= What does this plugin do? =

It connects a WordPress site to the hosted AI Receptionist widget and controls where that widget loads. Conversations, leads, bookings, and follow-ups are handled by the AI Receptionist service.

= Do I need an AI Receptionist account? =

Yes. [Create an account](https://aireceptionist.so/signin?flow=signUp&source=wordpress) before connecting the plugin. The connector itself is free, while use of the hosted service is subject to its account allowance or plan.

= Where do I find my Office ID? =

Sign in to the [AI Receptionist dashboard](https://aireceptionist.so/settings). Your WordPress installation instructions and Office ID are available in Settings.

= Where can the widget appear? =

You can show it across the entire site, on posts, on pages, or only on the front page.

= Can it answer questions and book appointments? =

Yes. The hosted assistant answers from the business facts you configure and can offer real open appointment times stored in AI Receptionist. It can also capture visitor details for follow-up. Available behavior depends on your account and configuration.

= Does it support Spanish? =

Yes. Visitors can switch the hosted conversation between English and Spanish.

= Does the plugin send data to an external service? =

Yes. The exact circumstances and data are listed in the External service section above. The widget is off by default.

= Does the plugin edit my theme or content? =

No. It loads the hosted widget on the parts of the site you select without modifying theme files, posts, or pages.

= What happens when I deactivate or uninstall the plugin? =

Deactivating stops the widget from loading. Uninstalling removes the plugin's WordPress settings and saved connection result. It does not delete the AI Receptionist account or hosted service data; manage those through the [AI Receptionist dashboard](https://aireceptionist.so/settings).
